Introducing the Safe School Helpline
Grayson County Schools is introducing the Safe School Helpline® this school year as part of the district’s overall school safety plan. It’s a toll-free, anonymous helpline for students, parents or community members to report situations that may negatively impact the safety of our schools, our students or our staff.

Just call 1-800-4-1-VOICE (800-418-6423), ext. 359 to leave your information. The Safe School Helpline team will transcribe and relay your message to school officials, so appropriate action can be taken. A live operator is available for immediate action in a crisis situation. (Due to confidentiality, these calls are not sent to schools.)
You can also report online at the Safe School Helpline website, text TIPS to 66746, or download the "Safe School Helpline" app in the App Store or Google Play.
New Immunization Regulations Take Effect for 2018-19
Recent amendments to the state law regarding immunization schedules (902 KAR 2:060) required for attending school take effect starting in the 2018-19 school year. There is a timing requirement to the vaccination schedule, so families should plan on an early start in order to be prepared for the upcoming school year.

For the 2018-19 School Year:
* All students in kindergarten through twelfth grade must show proof of having received two doses of Hepatitis A vaccine to attend school (doses are administered 6 months or more apart), and

* Students 16 or older must show proof of having received two doses of Meningococcal ACWY vaccine (MenACWY) to attend school. However, if the first dose of MenACWY was received at age sixteen or older, the second dose is not required for school entry.

Parents and caregivers are advised to see their child’s medical provider or local health department as soon as possible regarding immunizations. Updated and current immunization certificates are to be submitted to school before the start of the new school year.

Cybersafety for Parents
The internet, smart phones, and social media present a variety of new risks for children and teens, along with new challenges for parents.

Nationally renowned cybersafety expert Frederick Lane, the author of "Cybertraps for the Young," visited Grayson County Schools in November to share insights and tips with parents. We are pleased to be able to share that presentation.
