Shane Decker

Shane Decker has been named as the next Grayson County High School principal. He will assume the position July 1, replacing Lacy Cox.

A Grayson County High School graduate, Decker’s education career spans 15 years, with 14 of those in Grayson County Schools. He taught social studies at the middle school before transitioning to GCHS. He also taught there before becoming assistant principal, a role he’s held for the past four years.

As an alum, Decker has a deep-rooted connection to the community. He has also had a distinguished coaching career in both football and in volleyball. His GCMS volleyball teams earned seven GRVC titles during his tenure there.

He is excited for this new opportunity saying, “I look forward to continuing to work with the students, faculty, and staff to build on the growth and progress our school has achieved in recent years and ensuring that GCHS remains a piece of our community that all stakeholders can be proud of.”

In making the announcement, Supt. Doug Robinson noted Decker’s vision for the school and his leadership in a variety of arenas. “I’m confident Shane will bring those qualities to this new role to continue the momentum of GCHS and build on it.”

Decker holds a Bachelor's in Middle Grades Education from Western Kentucky University, a Master's Degree in Teacher Leadership, and an Educational Specialist's Degree in Educational Leadership, both from the University of the Cumberlands.

He and wife Christina are the proud parents of Kaylor, Averi, and Karver.
