KY Accountability and Assessment 2026 Results

Grayson County Schools' latest Kentucky School Report Card results show strengths in social studies and writing, along with gains in graduation and postsecondary readiness.

Kentucky's accountability system measures student achievement in reading, math, science, social studies and writing, along with English learner progress and school climate and safety.

High school results also include graduation and postsecondary readiness. Schools receive one of five color-coded ratings, from blue (highest) to red (lowest), based on current performance and changes from the previous year. The district received an overall yellow (medium) performance rating at the elementary, middle and high school levels.

Several academic bright spots stood out in this year's results. At the elementary level, social studies and writing scores were up, while science held steady.

Grayson County Middle School exceeded state averages across all tested subjects, with particularly strong writing results, nearly 30 points above the state average.

At Grayson County High School, social studies and writing scores improved and exceeded state averages. Writing was especially strong, finishing 14 points above the state average, while reading and math results were comparable to statewide performance.

The high school's four-year graduation rate rose more than two percentage points to 95%, nearly a full point above the state average.

Postsecondary readiness also continued its upward trend, increasing nearly three points from last year. This reflects the high percentage of students who demonstrate academic or career readiness through AP and/or dual credit coursework, industry certifications, work and other experiences.

“We continue to say ‘yes’ to as many opportunities as possible for students to learn about careers in a hands-on way,” said Supt. Doug Robinson. “Whether through our work-based learning program, CTE training, certifications, transition experiences or the new Paxton-Patterson Career Lab at the middle school, we want students to explore their interests, build their skills and see what's possible for their future. And it’s making a real difference."

Robinson also credited local businesses and community partners for their continued support of students and the many career opportunities they help provide.

“They are always all-in for our kids and we are so appreciative of that.”

Student survey results showed positive perceptions of school safety and support, with GCHS students reporting the highest levels of confidence. Across the board, students generally agreed that their schools respond to safety concerns, work to keep students safe and provide the support they need to succeed.

"Students learn better when they feel safe, supported and connected to their school," Robinson said. "Our staff has such a heart for our kids and seeing them succeed. That shows in the relationships they build and grow every day."

While the results highlight areas of strength, they also identify opportunities for growth across the district.

"We're proud of the progress we're seeing," Robinson added. "We'll keep building on what's working and addressing opportunities for improvement and growth to help our students be their best."
